Train services into and out of London Waterloo will be disrupted from Saturday 27 December 2025 to Sunday 4 January 2026 as engineers carry out vital upgrades near Queenstown Road. The work will improve safety and reliability on one of the country’s busiest railways.

Passengers are reminded that journeys will be affected this weekend (11 and 12 October) as another step forward is made in Darlington station’s £140 million transformation.

Network Rail teams have been working around the clock to repair extensive damage caused by Storm Amy, which battered Scotland’s Railway overnight.

Network Rail will close several railway lines in Scotland from 6pm tonight (Friday 3 October) ahead of Storm Amy reaching its peak, with potentially damaging gusts of up to 100mph.

Network Rail has confirmed that the line through Gloucester will remain closed on Monday 6 October as essential work to upgrade the signalling system is taking longer to complete than originally planned.

Passengers are advised to check before they travel this weekend as Storm Amy is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain.

Rail passengers in Flint now have step-free access between platforms with a brand-new lift, delivered as part of a £5.5m accessibility upgrade.
