Construction of a new £5.9m railway bridge at the former Exxon site at Bowling is gathering pace, with the structure now clearly taking shape. 

Trains will continue to operate as normal for most passengers across the west this Christmas, but passengers are being urged to plan their journey before travelling and book ahead if possible.

Passengers are being advised about major changes to train services between Clapham Junction, Willesden and Watford Junction from Saturday 25 October while Network Rail carries out urgent work to renew a level crossing.

Upgrade work along the route between Leeds and York will continue over the Christmas period and throughout January to help deliver a faster, greener and more reliable railway as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead as essential track renewal and bridge repair work will be taking place from Saturday 25 October for nine days. Level crossings will also need to be temporary closed, to support the track work, affecting local traffic routes and pedestrian routes.

Passengers using rail services across London and Cambridgeshire are being reminded to check before travelling this Christmas for planned engineering work taking place which may affect rail journeys. 

Passengers are reminded that a far-reaching package of engineering work will affect journeys over the next three weekends.
