Network Rail is set to carry out track work on a Grade II listed bridge over the River Thames between Kew Gardens and Gunnersbury stations during four weekends from September to October.

Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), in partnership with Kirklees Council and Canal & River Trust, has released its plans to upgrade the canal towpath between Shepley Bridge Marina and Station Road. The rail upgrade programme will also provide improvements to Mirfield Memorial Park.

Passengers travelling via Cambridge and Ely are being asked to check their journey plans before travelling as major engineering and station construction work will affect most weekends from mid September to the end of November. 

Train operators have been offered the opportunity to gain discounts on their track access charges by Network Rail in a bid to encourage new business to the railway, particularly freight.

A 30-mile stretch of the railway between Newcraighall and Tweedbank will be cleared of overgrown trees and vegetation from next week.

Network Rail at London’s Waterloo station has been granted the Autism Friendly Award by the National Autistic Society, the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. The station is the first Network Rail managed station to receive this award.
