Network Rail and Great Western Railway are warning passengers to check before they travel before heading for the station on Monday as Storm Imogen sweeps into the South West of England.

• Speed restrictions to be introduced from 21:00 until 03:00 today Sunday 7th February and from 11:00 on Monday 8th February as high winds are expected to hit the railway.

• Specialist engineers are preparing to deploy across the network to inspect lines and repair any damage as quickly as possible.

Network Rail has advised train passengers across South and West Wales to check before they travel as the regions brace for the arrival of Storm Imogen.

The Settle to Carlisle railway line was shut to all trains last night (4 February) after aerial monitoring confirmed the scale of ground movement in the railway embankment at Appleby.

Rhyl station has been revamped as part of Network Rail and Welsh Government’s plans to upgrade station facilities across Wales.

The West Coast main line fully reopened at Leighton Buzzard at 4am today (5 February) after engineers successfully repaired a bank slip in six days.

Rail services on the West Line between Carlisle and Newcastle will resume on Monday, 8 February as engineers carry out the final repairs to the railway following a huge landslip in January.

After round-the-clock repairs to fix a bank slip near Leighton Buzzard, the railway is due to fully reopen on Friday.
