Railway in Derbyshire gets £700k reliability upgrade over Easter

Network Rail has upgraded more than 480 metres of track over the Easter weekend to bring a more modern and reliable railway for passengers in Derbyshire.
Routes between Derby and Matlock, Chesterfield and London St Pancras reopened yesterday (Monday 18 April) following the upgrade.
In the £718,000 scheme, engineers have completely replaced the rail, sleepers and supporting stones through Duffield station. The new equipment makes the track more reliable, which means better, on-time journeys for passengers travelling between Derby and Matlock.
Gary Walsh, East Midlands Route Director for Network Rail, said: “I’d like to thank passengers for their patience as we completed these important upgrades at Duffield station over the Easter weekend.
“Regularly upgrading our track helps us to keep trains running on time and provides better journeys for passengers travelling in Derbyshire and right along the Midland Main Line.”
