Public invited to learn more about Oxford Corridor railway improvement works

Members of the public are invited to an open drop-in session on Wednesday, 7 September to learn more about the upgrade works set to take place in the Oxford area next month.

The planned infrastructure upgrades – which will get under way in mid-September – will improve the railway and signalling in the area to pave the way for a new fleet of faster, greener electric trains with more seats to be in operation by 2019.

Further details of the works taking place will be available and project team members will be on hand to answer any questions.

There will also be information and the opportunity to give feedback on the proposed Western Rail Link to Heathrow project, which would improve access to Heathrow Airport from Oxford and the surrounding areas.

The drop-in will take place in Seminar Room A of the Saïd Business School, Park End Street, Oxford OX1 1HP from 4pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, 7 September.

Tony Walker, Network Rail’s senior sponsor for the project, said: “These works are essential in order to bring the new fleet of electric trains onto the railway, bringing faster journeys, more seats and more environmentally-friendly services to passengers in Oxford and the surrounding areas.

“We encourage local residents to come along to the drop-in event to find out more about the works being undertaken and the benefits that the upgrades will provide.

“We’re more than happy to answer questions from the public and hope to see a good turnout.”
