MORE PARKING FOR CARS AT COTSWOLD STATIONS

Pershore, Charlbury and Kemble railway stations are to get 200 extra car park spaces, owing to a cash injection of nearly £1m.
The improvement will significantly ease overcrowding and cater to growing passenger demand driven by the North Cotswold and Swindon-Kemble redoubling schemes.
To be delivered by First Great Western, the station improvements are part of the first tranche of funding from a £100m scheme launched by Network Rail and the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC). The fund supports proposals that will deliver significant improvement, whilst reducing the overall public subsidy for rail by generating a financial return.
Mark Hopwood, managing director for First Great Western said: “This announcement is great news for our customers and further demonstrates our long term commitment to the Greater Western franchise.”
Patrick Hallgate, route managing director for Network Rail said: “As well as providing a safe, punctual and reliable train service we must give passengers a better journey experience. These car park expansion schemes will make a big difference for the community and businesses, who rely on the railway for thousands of journeys every day.”
Detailed design work is currently being carried out before work begins on site.
