Learn more about railway safety at Reading station security day

Reading station will be hosting a safety awareness event on October 24, with two sessions running from 7am-10am in the morning, and 2pm-7pm for evening commuters.

Passengers will be able to learn more about station safety, whilst enjoying informative giveaways from Network Rail and partnership organisations such as the British Transport Police (BTP) and Great Western Railway (GWR).

The BTP will also be on hand to talk to passengers about some of their national campaigns such as alcohol awareness, bicycle tagging, and how to spot suspicious behaviour.

Reading station manager Andy Phillips said: “Holding events such as the security awareness day is an excellent way of engaging with passengers and commuters to promote safety messages as well as support our partners at the BTP with their security campaigns, such as ‘See It, Say It, Sort It’.

“Station staff are looking forward to speaking with members of the public to hear their views and sharing information about safety and security. The event is an excellent educational opportunity for children too, who will have the chance to take home a copy of Network Rail’s new safety-focused Thomas the Tank Engine book.”
