Have your say on changes to level crossings in Oxfordshire

Members of the public are being invited to share their views on proposals to improve the safety of three level crossings in Oxfordshire.

Network Rail is asking people in Oxfordshire to give their feedback on plans to provide alternative safe access over the railway at three level crossings between Oxford and Banbury.

The proposals will see bridges installed in place of three level crossings north of Oxford at Sandy Lane, Yarnton - Green Lane, and Tackley.

Network Rail plans to build a ramped footbridge and cycleway at Sandy Lane, a stepped footbridge at Yarnton – Green Lane, and a new footbridge with lifts and a bridleway at Tackley.

This will allow more trains to use the line, with an increase in passenger services between Oxford and Birmingham and two extra freight trains per hour from the port of Southampton to the Midlands.

The public consultation is open from Monday 5 June to Monday 17 July. You can learn more about the proposals on Network Rail’s website, including events where you can meet the project team and have your say.

Dale Crutcher, Network Rail’s industry programme director, said: “We really want people in Oxfordshire to share their views on our proposals to improve the safety of these level crossings.

“This will allow us to find the best options to meet the needs of the community while maintaining safe access over the tracks and increasing the capacity of the railway to carry more trains in future.
