Brand-new WiFi launched at Bristol Temple Meads station
Passengers can now stay better connected with the rollout of fast, free and reliable WiFi at Bristol Temple Meads station.
The new service uses the latest technology which allows passengers to benefit from unlimited web browsing, seamless connectivity and single sign-on at all WiFi-enabled stations.
Multiple devices can be connected at once and the WiFi is certified as a ‘Friendly WiFi’ meaning that it complies with the Government’s safe filtering standards for the public and is child friendly.
Bristol Temple Meads follows in the footsteps of London Paddington, Victoria, Euston and London Bridge stations which have already introduced free WiFi and this rollout is part of Network Rail’s plans to make free WiFi available in all of its major stations by the end of 2021.
The introduction of free WiFi at Bristol Temple Meads is also the latest in a number of station improvements as part of the wider Bristol Rail Regeneration programme, which is transforming the station and railway in Bristol for the benefit of passengers and represents a major investment in sustainable transport in the region.
Other improvements being made at Bristol Temple Meads station include additional customer information screens which will provide clearer breakdowns of journey times, local area information and station facilities information, as well as a new personal announcement system and extra CCTV on platforms.
Andy Phillips, Network Rail’s station manager for Bristol Temple Meads and Reading, said: “It’s fantastic to see the rollout of the new WiFi at Bristol Temple Meads station.
“This will make a real difference to passenger journeys as it will enable them to work, shop and talk to friends and family as they use the station.
“The WiFi installation is the latest improvement made to the station as part of our wider programme of work focusing on building a better railway in Bristol.”
