A footbridge which links a new platform to Kirkham & Wesham station has been lifted into place - the latest stage in the upgrade of the railway between Preston and Blackpool.

Passengers travelling between Norwich and Ipswich are urged to check before they travel this evening after large trees fell on to the overhead wires at Tivetshall between Norwich and Diss, also damaging the structures that carry them.

Pedestrians and cyclists who cross the railway at Slipe Lane, Broxbourne, will be able to do so more safely following the installation of a new footbridge as part of a £4m Network Rail project.
