The first electric trains have successfully completed test runs along the recently electrified section of railway between York and Church Fenton as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).

Rail passengers are being advised to check before they travel and plan ahead over the next two weekends as multi-million-pound Midland Main Line upgrades continue and buses replace trains.

West of England Mayor Dan Norris has revealed the date that Bristol’s newest railway station, Ashley Down, will open. On Saturday (28 September) residents in the north of the city will have their own station once again after nearly 60 years.
