Passengers are advised to plan ahead as essential rail maintenance will affect services between Llandudno Junction and Holyhead from late Monday 14 July to early Friday 18 July 2025.

• The Government has announced that two key rail projects in the west have been given the green light following last month’s Spending Review.
• The rail line between Bristol city centre and Portishead – which was last used six decades ago – will be reinstated, delivering two new stations at Pill and Portishead and bringing thousands of people closer to the railway and the economic opportunities it provides.
• Two new stations will be built at Wellington in Somerset and Cullompton in Devon, improving transport links to Exeter and beyond and unlocking significant new housing developments.

Passengers and visitors to Manchester Oxford Road station will soon be greeted by a striking new mural, part of an exciting visual makeover celebrating the city’s rich cultural and musical heritage. 

Passengers travelling between Gloucester and Severn Tunnel Junction are advised to plan ahead as essential engineering work will close the railway through the Severn Estuary for three weeks, from 00:40 on Sunday 27 July until 08:40 on Sunday 17 August 2025.

Network Rail will begin a major £1.4 million upgrade of the footbridge at Longport station this summer to improve safety for passengers and pedestrians and enhance the long-term resilience of the structure for years to come.
