On 2nd May 2023, Freightliner, a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming Inc., officially opened its first Operational Training Academy, located on the 7th floor of Ipswich’s St. Vincent House.

Rail passengers are being advised of a six-day railway closure between Wigan and Bolton from this Saturday while work continues on the electrification of the line.
