Network rail will replace worn out track on the Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze lines starting this weekend, to improve reliability and to maintain safe and smooth running of services.

Earlier this year, Network Rail donated a kilometre of track and sleepers to Devon-based Plym Valley Railway, alongside other rail equipment which has now been installed by the heritage line.

Teams from Network Rail have painstakingly restored an iconic railway sign just north of York station following a request from the daughter of the man who made it almost 90 years ago.

Major work on the West Coast main line to keep trains running at full speed between Coventry and Birmingham International is now complete.

Station cafes collectively hand out 10,000 coffee cups including inspiring messages of hope, whilst Samaritans volunteers provide emotional support at stations from London King’s Cross to Durham.

Today marks the end of major work at Newcastle Central station to boost reliability and provide smoother journeys, helping to create a railway which is fit for the future.  

The railway’s favourite bear, Paddington, has returned to his beloved Platform 1 at London Paddington station.

Johnstone station’s new, fully-accessible footbridge and lifts are now open for passengers.
