Network Rail colleagues have joined forces with Samaritans in York and in stations across the East Coast Main Line to support the charity’s ‘Brew Monday’ initiative.

Today (Monday 15 January), Network Rail and Samaritans will be reminding everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with people they care about.

The Hope Valley Railway Upgrade is nearing completion with closures planned along the route to facilitate the last stages of work.

Network Rail and Great Western Railway are encouraging passengers and colleagues to take time out for a cuppa as they partner with Samaritans for its annual Brew Monday campaign.

Victorian platform canopies have been renovated at Great Malvern station in Worcestershire as part a £5m investment to improve the station for passengers.

Passengers are being urged to check before they travel between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare, while an important railway junction is refurbished over a nine-day period later this month. 

• Engineers to undertake four-day project to install specialist netting system on a rock cutting above the railway near Ratho.

• Safety-critical works will help prevent loose material from potentially falling onto the railway.

• Project will mean significant disruption to services between Edinburgh and Glasgow, Bathgate, Stirling and Inverness from January 29 until February 2 with advice for essential travel only.
