The Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, visited the site of a new £50m station north of Cambridge today (12 May 2016), to see the progress that has been made one year before it officially opens to the public.

Wildlife, as well as train passengers, will benefit from a major railway upgrade in Oxford, Network Rail and Chiltern Railways said today. 

Residents in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, are reminded that Dodington Road bridge will be temporarily closed from Monday 23 May to enable Network Rail to carry out work in preparation for the arrival of a new fleet of electric trains.

A new railway bridge over Aldershot High Street is to be painted blue and red by Network Rail engineers in a nod to the town’s historic army garrison and football club.

The ScotRail Alliance and British Transport Police have today (Tuesday, May 10) reminded the public of the dangers of trespassing on the railway ahead of the arrival of the newly-refurbished Flying Scotsman in Edinburgh this weekend.

Trains between Littleborough and Manchester Victoria have returned to normal after five weekends of work to upgrade the railway were completed on time.  

Passengers and residents in Chorley can find out more about work to upgrade the railway through the area at a public drop-in session this week.

Network Rail and the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) visited Twechar Primary School to help encourage its pupils to become the engineers of the future with an innovative hands-on workshop – the Bridges to Schools initiative.
