South Western Railway passengers on the Hounslow Loop should be aware that buses replace trains between Kew Bridge and Barnes will be closed between 23 and 31 August while we complete vital strengthening works on Barnes Bridge.

Buses will replace trains on the lines surrounding Guildford over the August Bank Holiday weekend Saturday 23rd August – Monday 25th August while vital engineering improvements are carried out on the South Western Railway network.

Network Rail, in partnership with its joint venture development partner blocwork, is working on proposals to transform a 0.75 ha (1.85 acre) vacant site adjacent to Queen Street railway station.   

Network Rail will be carrying out vital bridge and overhead line works on the Great Eastern main line and the Harwich branch line this September, meaning buses will replace trains on weekends.

The vast majority rail network across Kent and Sussex is open for business this August bank holiday weekend, but passengers are asked to plan ahead and check before they travel as some journeys may be longer as a result of essential upgrade work. 

Met Office and Network Rail have signed a deal to help drive forward research into weather and how it affects the railway.

Emergency work is underway to restore the signalling system for the West Coast Main Line, causing major disruption to service across the North West, to Scotland and London Euston.
