Network Rail’s Anglia Route comprises over 1,700 miles of track from London Liverpool Street station to Norwich in the east and Cambridge in the west, the North London Line from Gospel Oak to Barking East, and Essex Thameside from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness. With over 63.6 million passenger journeys, Liverpool Street is the third busiest railway station in Britain and the route is well connected with two airports, Stansted and Southend. Crossrail, when completed in 2019, will run from Shenfield to Liverpool Street and connect to Heathrow, and will transform journeys into the Capital by delivering more capacity and better connections to the City.

New research reveals lack of knowledge about railway dangers leads to more people taking risks at level crossings in Anglia

Wednesday 16 May 2018

New research from Network Rail reveals a quarter1 of Anglia residents think crossing a motorway on foot is more dangerous than crossing the railway on foot, despite the fact that trains cannot swerve out of the way. This lack of awareness is causing more people to take risks, with only 33% identifying that crossing when barriers are down and no train is coming is a risk and only 21% recognising that crossing when the lights are flashing is a risk.
