West Coast Main Line open for journeys between London Euston and Scotland this August bank holiday

Passengers travelling between London Euston and Scotland this August bank holiday can continue to rely on the West Coast Main Line, with the majority of the route remaining open throughout the long weekend.

With thousands of people expected to travel to visit friends and family, attend events or make the most of the final bank holiday of the summer, Network Rail is reminding passengers that the railway is open for business and ready to keep people moving.

The vast majority of services on the West Coast Main Line between London Euston, North West England and Scotland will operate as normal, allowing passengers to travel across the country by rail and avoid busy roads over the holiday weekend.

While bank holidays provide an important opportunity to carry out major railway upgrades that cannot be completed during a normal weekend, Network Rail has carefully planned its work to minimise disruption and keep passengers on the move.

Passengers are still encouraged to check their journey before they travel, as some services elsewhere on the network may be affected by engineering work.

Gary Walsh, route director for Network Rail’s West Coast South said: "The August bank holiday is always a busy time on the railway, with people travelling to enjoy a break, attend events or visit friends and family. We're pleased that the West Coast Main Line between London Euston and Scotland will remain open throughout the weekend, helping passengers get where they need to be.

"While colleagues across the railway continue to carry out essential improvements in some locations, we've worked hard to keep disruption to a minimum and keep people moving. We encourage customers to check their journey before travelling and look forward to welcoming them on the railway this bank holiday."
