Sun European Partners’ Flood to join Network Rail as non-executive director

Network Rail announces today the appointment of Sharon Flood as a non-executive director following the departure of Mike Firth. Ms Flood, 49, brings with her extensive financial experience having previously served as finance director for John Lewis department stores for five years.

Commenting on the appointment, Network Rail’s chairman, Richard Parry-Jones, said: “Sharon brings to Network Rail extensive financial experience at some of the UK’s most well-known businesses and will help us in our drive to deliver value for money and spend every penny of our multi-billion pound investment programme wisely.”

Ms Flood held previous senior finance and strategy roles within the Kingfisher Group, including B&Q, before joining John Lewis department stores as finance director in 2005. Since 2012, Ms Flood has worked with Sun European Partners, an international private equity investment advisory firm, as group chief financial officer.

Commenting on the departure of Mike Firth, Richard Parry-Jones said: ”Mike has served as non-executive director for almost 10 years and his contribution, counsel and expertise in the world of finance has been immeasurable in supporting the company and its ambitions to improve Britain’s railway.”
