Residents invited to drop-in event about plans to replace Ufton Nervet level crossing with a bridge

Members of the public are invited to attend a drop-in event to find out more about Network Rail’s plans to replace Ufton Nervet level crossing with a bridge.
The event will take place between 3pm and 8pm on Tuesday 21 April at Sulhamstead village hall in Sulhamstead. Members of the Network Rail project team will be on hand throughout to explain the plans and to answer any questions.
Network Rail is proposing to replace the level crossing at Ufton Nervet with a bridge to completely separate road and rail traffic at this site, which has experienced several incidents of deliberate misuse following a collision between a train and a car in 2004, in which seven people died and 71 people were injured.
Daniel Collins, Network Rail’s scheme sponsor for the project, said: “Since we announced our proposal to build a replacement bridge at Ufton Nervet, we have been working closely with West Berkshire Council to develop our plans.
“We are now in the process of finalising our proposal and are therefore in a position to share it with the public, which is why we are holding this drop-in event. All are welcome and I’d urge anyone who wants to know more about our plans, or has a question they’d like answered, to come along.”
