REMINDER: WEEKEND WORKS SIGNAL FIFE RAIL IMPROVEMENTS

- Cross Forth services affected 4/5 and 11/12 July

Network Rail has reminded rail passengers that it will be carrying out signalling upgrades in Fife during July, with two weekends the focus for the main engineering activity.

Signalling and structural works between North Queensferry and Inverkeithing will affect all cross-Forth services to Edinburgh over two weekends in July (4/5 and 11/12). A third weekend of work (25/26 July) has been postponed to a later date.

Services to and from Fife will start and terminate at Dalgety Bay for a bus connection, calling all stops to Waverley.

David Simpson, Network Rail Route Director, Scotland commented:

“We are committed to upgrading the rail infrastructure in Fife for the long term benefit of passengers in the area. We have chosen weekends to carry out this work to minimise disruption at the busiest times.”

Jacqueline Dey, ScotRail’s Operations Director, added:

“We have done everything possible to keep inconvenience to an absolute minimum. Full plans are in place to provide alternative transport arrangements where required.”

Trains between Edinburgh and Aberdeen or Inverness will be diverted during the July works and some services retimed. Passengers traveling on these routes should allow more time to complete their journeys.
