Passengers urged to check before they travel to and from London Paddington today (Friday)

Passengers travelling to and from London Paddington today (Friday, 8 December) are being urged to check their journeys before they leave, as a more limited service will be operating than usual.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of major disruption on Thursday night, when an overhead cable that provides power to trains came down in the Ladbroke Grove area. A number of services were left without electricity as a result and had to be evacuated.
Engineers worked through the night to get two out of four tracks open for electric trains this morning.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We are so sorry for the difficult journeys passengers endured on our railway last night and we will be investigating how and why it happened. The knock-on effects from last night mean operators will not be able to run a full service from Paddington today and passengers should check before they travel. Repairs are ongoing and we hope to have the railway fully open by the weekend.”
The incident happened at around 1830. Investigations continue.
