PADDINGTON STATION CHARITY DAY TO HELP GET KIDS BACK ON TRACK

Region & Route:
| Southern
A children’s charity supporting vulnerable young people comes to Paddington Station on Wednesday 25 October to help raise awareness about the effects of loss and trauma on children. The Jigsaw4u charity literally aims to pick up the pieces when children and young people are affected by grief, loss and trauma and works to ensure vulnerable young people receive the support they need. A special stand will be at Paddington station throughout the day and Jigsaw4u staff will be on hand to explain more about the charity’s work. Network Rail’s Route Director Robbie Burns said: “Thousands of people pass through our stations every day and sadly many will have been touched by trauma and grief at some stage in their lives so we are pleased to welcome this worthy cause to the station for the day. I would encourage people to spare some time to find out more about Jigsaw4u; how they can support this worthy charity; and also to find out more about what the charity can do to help them.” Jigsaw4u Chief Executive Anne Davies said: “Loss and trauma includes the pain of grief, separation, disability, and abuse. Children experiencing loss feel alone and different - we can make a difference by bringing children, young people and their parents together and giving them a voice. I look forward to meeting people at our stand at Paddington Station.”

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
