NORMAL SERVICES RESUMED ON THE WEST COAST MAIN LINE

Train services returned to normal at 1400 hrs today (Sunday 10th December) on the West Coast Main Line following an incdient that occured on Thursday near Milton Keynes which saw two miles of overhead power lines brought down. Network Rail engineers have been working through the night and over the weekend to make repairs, and these were completed at 1400hrs today.  An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.

The incident happened at 1.30pm on Thursday 7 December and involved the 9.39am Virgin service from Glasgow to London. Almost two miles of overhead power lines came down blocking all four tracks on the West Coast route at Castlethorpe (a few miles north of Milton Keynes).
