New toilets open at London Bridge station

• 38 new toilets almost double the number of toilets at the station to meet the growing needs of customers.

Passengers using London Bridge station can look forward to an improved experience as Network Rail has opened 38 new toilets, almost doubling the toilet capacity at the station. 

To meet the growing needs of station customers, Network Rail converted two former retail units on Stainer Street into extra toilet facilities.

The new toilets will operate alongside the existing toilets to significantly increase provision. 

The facilities include a mixture of female, male and unisex units. The new accessible toilets will improve access for those with non-visible disabilities, while the step-free entry to accessible toilets and baby changing areas will make it easier for people with impaired mobility, the elderly, and parents with children. 

This investment was driven by passenger feedback, which indicated that the existing toilets did not meet the needs of the number of passengers using the busy station. 

Cem Davis, Network Rail station manager for London Bridge, said: “As part of our wider investment to modernise stations and give people a better experience, we are delighted to have opened the new toilets, which has almost doubled toilet capacity at the station. 

“The new toilets include a mix of male and female facilities. New and roomier toilets have been installed for passengers with non-visible disabilities, and a new accessible toilet and baby changing facility is provided for people with impaired mobility, the elderly, and parents with children.  

“The new facilities provide a much more pleasant experience for customers and have been designed to better meet the needs of all passengers at this busy station.  

“We were delighted to have them opened in time for the London Marathon.”
