Spokesafe are pleased to announce that they are now managing Network Rail’s London Bridge Cycle Hub.

Good news - another secure cycle hub is now up and running!

Hidden in the shadows of the Shard, and perfectly located just outside the entrance to London Bridge station, the London Bridge Cycle Hub is now part of the Spokesafe network and is instantly accessible to any member of the Spokesafe community here.

The location, which is owned by Network Rail and managed by Spokesafe, is a result of a partnership set up by Team London Bridge and will help make it even easier for local businesses and people to commute into the area by bike.

The Hub itself boasts secure parking for over 70 bicycles, including specific spaces for non-standard cycle and cargo bikes as well as a repair station and pumps to help keep your bike on the road.

Spokesafe’s Founder, Max Wilson, said: “We are delighted to partner with Network Rail to bring the London Bridge Cycle Hub online. Using Spokesafe’s software platform, we were able to work with Network Rail to instantly re-open a cycle hub which has been closed off to the public for as long as I can remember.”

“This is a great example of how underutilised existing cycling infrastructure can be added to the Spokesafe platform, and we’re looking forward to working with Network Rail to help make this Hub an example of best practice moving forwards."

Sarah Borien, Network Rail’s head of environment and sustainability, said: “Thousands of people commute in to and out of London Bridge station and the nearby area on a daily basis. The partnership with Spokesafe is a brilliant example of how modern technology can help improve Network Rail infrastructure and make cycling into London a lot easier for those needing to store their bikes.

“We hope this will encourage commuters and local businesses to leave their cars at home and use the train and their bikes to get to work as it will be easier than ever to book a space via the app rather than have the hassle of finding a space on the street which is less safe and secure.”

Jack Skillen, Placeshaping Director at Team London Bridge, said: “As a famous transport interchange London Bridge deserves to have an outstanding cycle network. Our Cycle Strategy Action Plan has been working hard to make cycling an attractive, practical travel option in our area and this fantastic new facility will play an important role in making that happen”.

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
