NETWORK RAIL WELCOMES INTERIM HSE REPORT ON INCIDENT AT UFTON NERVET

Speaking in response to the HSE’s interim report into the Ufton Nervet train derailment, John Armitt, Chief Executive of Network Rail, said: “We would like to thank the HSE for its swift action in preparing this interim report, which we hope will serve to reassure passengers about the safety of the rail infrastructure on which they travel. “We will be formally requesting that the Rail Safety & Standards Board conduct a formal inquiry into circumstances surrounding the accident on Saturday and consider whether there are any lessons we can learn from this. “We will continue to keep each and every level crossing under constant review in order to ensure it remains safe and appropriate for use.” John Armitt was responding to the HSE’s report “Train derailment at Ufton Level Crossing near Ufton Nervet, Berkshire, which was published on Wednesday 10 November”.
