NETWORK RAIL ANNOUNCES BOARD RETIREMENT

Network Rail today announced that Chris Leah, Safety and Compliance Director, has decided to retire with effect from 3 December 2004. Chris Leah, 57, joined the railway industry in 1966 and has held numerous senior roles in the industry over his 38 year career. Ian McAllister, Chairman said: “Chris has been an invaluable member of Network Rail’s top team and will be greatly missed.  His long railway experience, that covered almost all disciplines within the railway environment, provided us with important insights into the industry. “On behalf of the Company and the Board, I would like to offer my warmest thanks and best wishes as Chris takes a well earned rest.” A decision on Mr Leah’s replacement will be made in due course.
