Network Rail advises passengers to plan ahead as work begins between Inverness and Elgin

Passengers are being urged to plan ahead as Network Rail begins vital improvement works between Inverness and Elgin this weekend.
Over the weekend, engineers will replace a bridge carrying the railway over the Kinloss Burn near Forres to keep the route safe and reliable for passengers.
They’ll also be carrying out track maintenance at Raigmore level crossing in Inverness, to help keep trains running on time through the area.
No trains will run between Inverness and Elgin Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, with services resuming on Monday morning.
Ross Moran, route director, Network Rail Scotland, said: “These works are being completed to keep the railway running safely and reliably for passengers on the Aberdeen - Inverness line.
“We’re urging passengers to check their journey before travelling on Sunday and we thank them for their understanding during these works.”
Passengers travelling over the weekend can check their journeys in advance at www.nationalrail.co.uk or with ScotRail.
