Lincoln residents invited to find out more about work to construct new footbridge

Region & Route:
| Eastern

Network Rail is inviting residents to an information event on Thursday 22 November to find out more about on-going work to build a new footbridge over the railway at Brayford Wharf in Lincoln.

Work to install the new footbridge began on Monday 29 October and Brayford Wharf East Road is now closed to motorists until Monday 6 May to allow construction to take place.

The footbridge will improve safety and provide pedestrians and cyclists with 24/7 access across a busy railway. The level crossing will remain open, but the new footbridge will provide a new route across the railway for those who do not wish to wait at the crossing.

An information session will be held between 15:00 and 19:00 on Thursday 22 November at the site office on Brayford Wharf East, at which Network Rail will answer residents’ questions and provide further details about the work.

Anyone who can’t make the event but would like further information should contact the Network Rail National Helpline on 0345 7 11 41 41.

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
