Key railway upgrades taking place in the Coventry area this weekend

Passengers are being advised to check before travelling during key railway upgrades in the Coventry area this weekend.
Network Rail teams will be replacing track, improving drainage and upgrading points - the devices that let trains move from one track to another at junctions.
This essential improvement work will help keep the railway safe for the tens of thousands of passengers and many freight trains which use the line every week.
The planned upgrades, which will provide better and more reliable journeys, mean no trains will be calling at Coventry or Birmingham International on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, with rail replacement buses in place.
Rail passengers are being urged to plan by using National Rail Enquiries and allow extra time to get to where they need to be.
Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: “These essential track upgrades will help keep the railway safe and reliable for years to come. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum and we thank passengers for their patience while we do the work.
“If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead allowing extra time for your journey and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
Passengers should check www.nationalrail.co.uk or with their train operator for the latest journey information and travel advice.

About Network Rail
We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.
Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
