IAN BUCHAN APPOINTED TO NETWORK RAIL BOARD

Network Rail is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Buchan as non-executive director to the Board with effect from 5 February 2006. Until recently he was Chief Executive of National Express’s trains division, which at that time held nine franchises. Previously Business Development Director at FirstGroup, Mr Buchan led the team which bid successfully for the Great Eastern franchise in 1996. Announcing Mr Buchan’s appointment, Chairman, Ian McAllister, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian Buchan to the Network Rail Board. Mr Buchan has many years of experience in the transport sector and in particular, valuable knowledge of rail operations.” Ian Buchan is also a keen pilot and a director of the Manchester School of Flying
