Network Rail will soon deliver nearly £5m of investment in platform works at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West stations.
Engineers will start upgrades to Alexandra Parade in January while the Hillington West improvements are scheduled to commence in February.
Alexandra Parade, on the Springburn branch of the North Clyde Line, will undergo a £1.75m upgrade, including the demolition and rebuild of platform 1. New lighting and CCTV will also be installed to enhance the passenger experience.
From Saturday 18 January 2025 until Sunday 4 May 2025 platform 1 (westbound towards Glasgow) will not be in use. During this time, passengers can use nearby Duke Street station. Eastbound services will continue to operate from the station.
At Hillington West, on the line to Paisley Gilmour Street, a £2.9m project will renew both platforms in two 13-week phases from 16 February 2025.
Platform 1 will close first, followed by Platform 2. During the closures, passengers can use nearby Hillington East. The new platforms will have improved drainage and underfoot conditions.
Alan Ross, Network Rail Scotland’s director of engineering and asset management, said: “The works at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West are part of our wider maintenance strategy for Scotland’s stations and will help us to run a safe and reliable railway for our customers for years to come.
“We understand the inconvenience the work may cause for some passengers and our lineside neighbours and we appreciate their patience and understanding while we deliver these vital improvements.”
Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “We thank customers for their patience while this improvement work is carried out. Once complete, these station upgrades will improve safety, and the overall customer experience, at Alexandra Parade and Hillington West.
“We understand that changing travel plans to travel from nearby stations can be inconvenient, but we’re confident that these changes will deliver long-term benefits for customers.”

About Network Rail
We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.
Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
