Small businesses in Camden will have a chance to sell their wares outside one of London’s busiest stations this December as Euston station hosts a pop-up market selling ethically sourced products and Christmas gifts.

The event on Saturday 6 December has been arranged by Network Rail and Virgin Trains to help support, inspire and promote small, local businesses and entrepreneurs. Set in Euston Square Gardens just in front of the station, local businesses and stallholders will sell their goods between 9am and 3pm, including items such as bath and body products, flowers, artisan foods, oils, jewellery and quirky, recycled gifts.

Beks Richards, from Network Rail’s station team at Euston, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to promote the local businesses of Camden to rail passengers and help grow the local economy, especially in the build-up to Christmas. If the event goes well, it’s something we could look at doing every year.”

Nicola Griffiths, POP-UP business manager, at Virgin Trains said: “We are thrilled that Network Rail have joined forces with Virgin Trains POP-UP to help further support the communities and businesses we serve and look forward to seeing the businesses taking part in POP-UP events grow from strength to strength”

Euston station is currently undergoing a £12.5m retail development scheme, which will create more space both inside and outside the station while giving passengers, local residents and people working in the area a better selection of shops as well as places to eat and drink. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2015, the work will include a new 8,000 sq ft balcony featuring a new bar, a selection of casual dining outlets and a comfy seating area overlooking the main concourse.

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
