BELL POTTINGER APPOINTED TO SUPPORT NETWORK RAIL FINANCIAL PR EFFORT

Region & Route:
National
Network Rail has appointed Bell Pottinger to support the company with its financial PR following a three month review process. Network Rail recently announced that it intends to cease using its government guarantee to raise debt, and in the next couple of years will begin to raise money on normal commercial terms. The Bell Pottinger team, led by Deputy Chairman Charles Cook, will support Network Rail as it prepares for this important change, as well as advising the company on wider strategic issues. Bell Pottinger replace Financial Dynamics, who had been working with Network Rail for the previous four years. Victoria Pender, Group Director Government & Corporate Affairs, said: “We’re delighted to bring Bell Pottinger on board. By marrying the qualities they have demonstrated through the pitch process with our in-house expertise, we feel Network Rail has a really strong team. “I would also like to thank Financial Dynamics for their work with us over the last four years. They have made an important contribution to the development of the company, and we are very grateful for their work.”

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
