AYLESBURY, BANBURY & HIGH WYCOMBE STATIONS GET THE BIG PICTURE

Region & Route:
| North West & Central
| Southern
Passengers using Aylesbury and High Wycombe stations will be able to view departure and arrivals information from brand new Customer Information Screens as part of a major £650,000 IT upgrade project by Network Rail. They join Banbury station which has recently benefited from the upgrade. Network Rail is replacing all existing old-style CRT monitors with new TFT and LED equivalent display units. The LED screens will be installed on platforms with the TFTs fitted on concourses and in booking offices. In addition, each station will benefit from a new public address system. Peter Strachan, Network Rail Route Director said: "Over recent years, Network Rail has invested heavily in its stations to provide attractive, modern retail facilities. The new hi-tech screens and PA systems at Aylesbury, Banbury and High Wycombe not only help transform the station environment into a modern facility but ultimately and most importantly help provide clear, easy to read, up to date information to passengers." Neil Micklethwaite, Commercial Director at Chiltern Railways said: "We are pleased to be working with Network Rail to install these new screens. They will provide our passengers with faster information and will be more visible to them at the station. We hope this will help to make their journeys as pleasant as possible."

Notes to editors

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
