Network Rail issues reminder of road closure to survey railway bridge on Shore Road, near Wemyss Bay

A78 near Wemyss Bay will be closed from 22:00hrs on Wednesday 25 October until 06:00hrs on Thursday 26 of October

Network Rail is reminding residents and motorists of a road closure scheduled for the end of October in Wemyss Bay.

As part of a commitment to providing a safe and reliable railway, engineers will conduct a structural survey of the railway bridge (named A78 Old Shore Road) from 22:00hrs on Wednesday 25 October until 06:00hrs on Thursday 26 October.

Coneworx, on behalf of Network Rail, will manage the closed section of road and put out warning signs in advance of the closure and diversion signs during it.

Darren Dickson, Project Manager for Network Rail, said: “The work we’re undertaking will provide vital information on the condition of this railway bridge is crucial for the long-term future reliability of the line.

“Working on the railway at night offers the safest environment for our teams and causes the least disruption to our passengers and freight trains. However, we understand the inconvenience this work will cause some people.

“We would like to thank those affected for their patience and understanding and offer assurances that every effort has been made to reduce the impact of our activities as much as possible.”
