Network Rail is using virtual reality technology to save time and money and improve safety as it prepares to redevelop one of Britain’s major stations.

Passengers to the south and west of London will benefit from a more reliable and resilient railway thanks to Network Rail’s bank holiday upgrades completed this weekend.

Network Rail has thanked passengers for their patience after engineers successfully completed bank holiday weekend engineering projects on time.

The rail network reopened on time this morning after £30m of rail improvements were completed over the bank holiday weekend.

Network Rail will start work to implement a permanent repair to the railway embankment between Farnham and Alton on 5 September, following the landslip at Wrecclesham that closed the railway for nearly three weeks in April this year.

Network Rail engineers will shortly start work to demolish and rebuild the bridge over the railway at Station Road in Shotts.
