Network Rail is urging passengers in Northamptonshire to plan ahead as the latest stage of the Midland Main Line Upgrade takes place this weekend.

Passengers planning a getaway this bank holiday weekend are reminded to check before they travel as Network Rail will be replacing a bridge at Barnard’s Lock near Newbury in Berkshire which will help speed up journeys.

Passengers are being reminded that Network Rail engineers will be working from this Saturday (May 4) until mid-August to complete a multi-million-pound upgrade to track and signalling between Aberdeen and Inverurie.

Sounds from an ecological park will be streamed to London Bridge Station, the UK’s fourth busiest railway station, thanks to a new work created by artist collective Soundcamp and artist Jessie Brennan.

Passengers are being advised to plan their journeys in advance over this bank holiday weekend as Network Rail prepares to undertake vital work to improve reliability of rail infrastructure.

Network Rail, and main contractor Amco, will begin work on Dunbar’s new second platform from next week (Tuesday, May 7).
