Are you interested in finding out more about what it’s like to work on the railway? Members of the public are invited to attend an open day at one of Network Rail’s maintenance depots in Swindon, a historic railway town with links to the industry dating back to 1843 – almost 180 years.

Work to upgrade the Norwich, Yarmouth and Lowestoft railway in Anglia moved forward last week as the fourth phase of re-signalling works were completed during a nine-day suspension of rail services on the Wherry lines.

A new operational system has been introduced by Network Rail in south Wales, as one of the first digital railway initiatives goes live. The traffic management system helps operators manage the timetable, reducing disruption and delays for passengers.

Network Rail is advising passengers in the East Midlands to check before they travel on the weekend of 13/14 April as the latest stage of the Midland Main Line Upgrade takes place.

Plans for £2bn investment to improve the railway for passengers across Wales and Borders have been published by Network Rail. The plan represents a 28 per cent increase in spending compared to the last funding period (2014-2019) to increase reliability and improve performance over the next five years.

The public toilets at one of the busiest railway stations in the country are free to use from today. This fulfils Network Rail’s commitment to make toilets ‘free to pee’ in all its 19 managed stations.

Network Rail Anglia has published its business plan for the five years to March 2024 with over £2.2bn planned investment for operating, maintaining and renewing the railway.

Network Rail is hosting community engagement sessions in Cardiff and Newport to speak to residents about ongoing modernisation work to electrify the railway between London and Cardiff.
