Major work to upgrade the railway in West Yorkshire is now a step closer as Network Rail has submitted plans to transform the line between Huddersfield and Westtown (Dewsbury) following two rounds of public and stakeholder consultations.

Three years’ worth of work to upgrade drainage, track and signalling equipment over a seven-mile stretch of railway in North London has been completed in just eleven days by Network Rail.

Guildford is set for a large programme of railway improvements this Easter, putting the finishing touches to the biggest improvements to the area in 40 years.

New signals will be switched on in South West London this Easter introducing modern, more reliable equipment to improve rail journeys for passengers.

Network Rail has today (Wednesday 31 March) reopened Oakham station footbridge for passengers after completing a major revamp to protect its future.

Network Rail will use Sunday 4 and Monday 5 April over the Easter weekend to press on with the Gatwick Airport station redevelopment to make passengers’ future journeys from the train to the plane easier, while the station is open for travel.

Network Rail engineers in the South East are preparing to work in South East London and North Kent to replace a bridge near Dartford, repair earthworks between Hastings and Tonbridge, and improve the track near Hither Green and Petts Wood.
