More support teams to help keep rail passengers and revellers safe at Birmingham New Street station are being introduced during this year’s Frankfurt Christmas markets.

Rail passengers are being advised of urgent lift repairs at Lancaster station next week which will mean no step-free access to platforms 4 and 5.

Passengers planning on travelling to and from London King’s Cross on the East Coast Main Line are being urged to check before they travel as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in some areas could affect journeys until the weekend.

Network Rail is urging passengers to check before travelling on Wednesday 1 November and Thursday 2 November as Storm Ciarán sweeps across the south west, with Devon and Cornwall likely to see wind speeds of over 70mph in exposed areas from 9pm tonight and into Thursday.
