Passengers wishing to travel by rail this Christmas are being encouraged to check before travelling as extensive engineering work will be taking place across the Anglia region. 

Rail passengers in Network Rail’s North West and Central region will benefit from a better, more reliable railway in 2024 thanks to upgrade and maintenance work taking place this Christmas and New Year.  

The London Transport choir will be serenading the station with heart-warming Christmas carols, alongside the majestic sound of the church organ to help raise money for the Railway Benefit Fund (RBF).

From the end of November, Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) will commence major upgrades at Huddersfield station, bringing passengers one step closer to a sleek, modern and more accessible station.

•  More than 96% of the rail network will be open for ‘business as usual’ over the Christmas and New Year period

• Most journeys will be unaffected by engineering work but some lines are impacted, so passengers should plan ahead and check their journey details

A multi-million-pound programme of upgrades to Billingham station has been completed delivering improvements to passengers’ journeys.

Network Rail has appointed Story Contracting Ltd to design a new railway station on the Neilston line in the area south of Barrhead.
