Lift shafts have been successfully installed at Tilehurst station near Reading as Network Rail’s project to improve accessibility moves closer to completion.

Network Rail and the Department for Transport have today (Friday 4 October) announced a five-point plan that aims to improve the functioning of Euston station and deliver a better passenger experience while it undergoes longer-term design changes.

Work in the tunnel to improve drainage and repair brickwork will protect the railway for the future, improving the reliability of rail passengers' journeys

The application window for the first £175,000 TRU Community Fund is now closed, with almost 300 grant applications submitted in total.

A six month project to improve a 140-year-old railway bridge over Salkeld Street, in Glasgow, has begun. 

• Engineering works to take place near East Farleigh station and at Maidstone West station 
• Between Thursday 31 October and Sunday 3 November the line is closed between Paddock Wood and Maidstone West, with buses replacing trains
• People asked to plan ahead and check before they travel
