Cardiff school children have learned about the dangers of the railway as Network Rail presses ahead with the electrification of the South Wales Mainline – a critical part of its Railway Upgrade Plan to provide better, more reliable journeys for passengers across Britain.

Video footage has captured Network Rail’s orange army working around the clock over a combined 20,000 hours to improve the railway in west London, making it more reliable for passengers.

Passengers travelling to and from Chippenham station will now find their journey a much easier experience after a new footbridge and lifts were officially opened by Network Rail today, Friday 22 January, as part of the company’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Passengers were reminded today to allow extra time for their journeys over the next two weekends when the line between Bolton and Manchester shuts so engineers can finish work on the newly enlarged Farnworth Tunnel.

Network Rail is investing £17m to protect Cheshire’s most iconic railway bridges for decades to come.

Network Rail is inviting Carpenders Park and Bushey residents to an information event on forthcoming railway vegetation works.

Network Rail is inviting its lineside neighbours and other members of the local community in Chorley and Lostock to drop-in events this week to find out more about the work required to electrify the line between Manchester and Preston via Bolton.
