The railway line between Crewe to Manchester and Sandbach to Northwich reopened today (Wednesday 24 February) after Network Rail completed a £17m project to protect Cheshire’s most iconic railway bridges from the elements for decades to come.

A striking new footbridge, part of the £11m regeneration of Port Talbot Parkway station, has now opened.

Network Rail is holding a drop-in session for passengers and residents in Market Harborough to present plans for significant improvements which will benefit passengers traveling by rail in the East Midlands.

A team of 80 people from Network Rail, including geotechnical and engineering experts, are carrying out extensive preparatory work ahead of repairs to a 500,000 tonne landslip on the Settle to Carlisle railway line.

Patchway residents are invited to attend a drop-in event and learn about the work taking place in their area to prepare the Great Western Main Line for the arrival of a new fleet of electric trains.

Network Rail has successfully installed a new footbridge across the Great Eastern Main Line at Harold Wood station and completed the first of several platform extensions on the line.

Essential work to prepare Dragon Road/Down Road bridge for the arrival of a new fleet of electric trains will begin next week (Monday 29 February).
