£150m delivers a new rail era for South Wales

Warrington Central was the 150th station to be completed under the DfT's NSIP scheme. The new facilities, which included a completely new station entrance, ticket office and booking hall, were officially opened Transport Minister Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP on 7 July 2011<br /><br />Photo courtesy of First TransPennine Express

MP for Blackburn, Rt Hon Jack Straw, at the controls of a digger on the town's station to mark the start of work on the Access for All and National Stations Improvement Programme schemes. Mr Straw was joined by representatives of Network Rail and other partners in the project (24 June 2011)
