Pedestrian dashes over Langley Green crossing and gets hit - with a £50 fine (21 Jan 2011)

Regions:

During an awareness day involving Network Rail and British Transport Police, a pedestrian is spoken to and handed a leaflet about the safe use of level crossings (off camera). She is then seen dashing over the crossing after the barrier lowering sequence has started - the flashing warning lights can clearly be seen in the CCTV clip. The descending barrier has to be stopped to allow the woman to clear the crossing (and thereby delaying trains). As she clears the crossing she is stopped by a police officer and can then be seen remonstrating with him and waving the safety leaflet at him. The pedstrian was give a £50 on the spot penalty for trespassing on the railway.
